»The Pipe« – Enclosure for small Tube Amps

You’ve just finished your new tube amp. Everything is fine, but what you still need is a nice enclosure. Do you know this problem? If you decided to go with a Hammond enclosure or a standard 19″ box, you still have a lot of work to do on the sheet metal. It’s even worse if you like to use your own design for the front and back panels. The Schaeffer AG in Berlin make high quality customized front panels. You can design your panel using the free Front Panel Designer software. But how do you fix the panel on the enclosure?

We designed a small and easily customizable enclosure: »The Pipe«. It’s probably not the right choice for your 100 watts push pull power amp. It might be, however, an interesting option for passive or active preamps, external power supplies and low power tube amps. An array of 3 or 4 enclosures will look impressive on your audio rack. This little box might be a perfect match for your T-Amp. The dimensions are 150x150x250 mm (outside) and 140x140x230 mm (inside). The inner frame is fixed by 4 screws through the equipment feet. After loosing these screws you can pull out the whole frame which makes maintenance and tweaking very easy. The sleeve is black powder coated. Front and back panel are made of anodized aluminium. Now available in beautiful black wrinkle paint finish! We love the look of vintage gear and can now offer this enclosure in wrinkle paint finish (powder coated). It looks pretty much like the good old stuff and provides a nice unregular texture.

You can easily customize the front and back panel by drilling additional holes. If you prefer panels that contain more complex patterns and engravings you can have them made by Schaeffer. We provide template files for the Front Panel Designer. The template for the front panel contains holes for the mounting of 4 braces. The template for the back panel contains threaded holes for mounting the braces, the cut-out for the mains socket and the venting slots.
